The Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) is implementing new regulations for Cosmetic Surgery patients from the 1st of July, 2023. The new guidelines have stronger regulations that are designed to further protect patients and improve standards of care for cosmetic procedures.
Advanced Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery will be implementing these changes. A referral from a GP or a Specialist will be mandatory for ALL patients seeking cosmetic surgery.
A referral is not required for cosmetic injectables or laser treatments.
Suggested AHPRA/MBA changes that APCS already follow are: A minimum of two consultations, a pre screening assessment and a cooling off period of at least seven days after signing the consent. For further details, please refer to the Medical Boards FAQ or contact us on 08 8297 1476 for further details.
If you have already booked a consult or surgery with us after the 1st of July, 2023 our staff will contact you if there are any changes required to your current arrangements.
